Augmented reality technology is supporting Logistics staff in the CKD Centre at Škoda Auto’s Mladá Boleslav plant. As part of a large-scale trial, video mapping projections assist staff when loading sets of MKD components onto pallets ready for export.

Denso to build new distribution centre in Jeffersonville

Denso announced that its affiliate Denso Products and Services Americas, Inc., is opening a new distribution centre in Jeffersonville, Ind. The location, which will be fully operational this summer, is another milestone in Denso's North American distribution optimisation strategy to more efficiently serve its growing customer base throughout North America, as well as leverage IoT technologies and improve safety.

UECC to invest in new generation PCTCs

United European Car Carriers (UECC), jointly owned by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Wallenius Lines, has signed a contract to construct two new generation PCTC with China Ship Building Trading Co., Ltd and Jiangnan Shipyard Group Co. Ltd. The newbuilding contract also has options for two additional vessels, and the first vessel is planned for delivery in 2021.

Grimaldi Group prioritises anti-pollution measures following the Grande America incident

Following the sinking of the RoRo container vessel Grande America, the Grimaldi Group said that the vessel had onboard freight composed of rolling units, containers and some general cargo, loaded in Antwerp and Hamburg with destination Casablanca (Morocco), Dakar (Senegal), Conakry (Guinea), the Brazilian ports of Suape, Vitoria, Rio de Janeiro, Santos and Paranagua, Zarate (Argentina) and Montevideo (Uruguay).
