Kia records best ever July

Kia saw a resurgence of demand for its vehicles as UK car-buyers returned to the showrooms in July with 9,110 cars delivered – up 28 per cent over 2019 when the brand delivered 7,115 cars. Kia’s previous best July was in 2016 when it delivered 7,417 new vehicles.

Vauxhall's all-new Corsa is UK's best-seller for second consecutive month

Vauxhall's all-new Corsa was the UK's best-selling car in July with 5,455 sold, following similar success in June, according to figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Volkswagen opens vehicle assembly facility in Ghana

Volkswagen is expanding its footprint in Sub-Saharan Africa with the official opening of a vehicle assembly facility in Accra, Ghana. With this engagement, Ghana becomes the fifth Volkswagen vehicle assembly location in Sub-Saharan Africa; the other locations are in South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Rwanda.

Volvo Car Group exceeds 600,000 vehicles sold on the CMA platform

Scania’s production worldwide completes fossil-free transition

Scania announced that all its ten major production facilities worldwide are now powered by fossil-free electricity, the target set for 2020. The final large production plant to phase out fossil energy has been Scania’s production plant in Tucumán, Argentina, which will be supplied by electricity from a wind farm.

UK car production down 42.8% in first half of 2020

UK car production declined 48.2% in June with 56,594 units made, according to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Factories turned out just 381,357 cars in the year-to-date, down 42.8% on 2019 – a decline of more than 285,000 units. Although post-shutdown production slowly ramped up in the month, strict social distancing measures and weak demand across global markets continued to restrict output.

SEAT presents its strategy for the future to major suppliers in Spain

Digital OLEDs debut in Audi Q5

With organic light-emitting diodes (so-called OLEDs), Audi was a pioneer as far back as in 2016. Now digitalisation is ringing in a new age. 100 Mercedes-Benz Actros for transport company Contatto

Mercedes-Benz do Brasil has received an order for 100 heavy trucks from Transportadora Contatto, a Brazilian transport company. The Mercedes-Benz Actros, with which Contatto is significantly renewing its fleet of 600 vehicles, are to be delivered by December 2020.
