US automotive seating manufacturer Adient has launched the construction of a $20 million factory in Serbia's western municipality of Loznica.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said that the project will improve the quality of life of 1500 families in Loznica and will allow the local government to invest more in infrastructure through higher revenue from income tax.

Vice-President of the Adient unit for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Vladimir Teplik emphasised that Adient has around 85,000 employees in 238 production plants and in 34 countries, and is producing 25 million car seats per year.

Teplik added that Serbia was chosen among eight other countries for this investment because it has a "friendly and qualified workforce" and moreover Serbia is a leader in developing infrastructure and in doing business and cooperating with investors.

Adient is a global leader in the production of automotive seating, instrument panels, cockpits, door panels, floor consoles, and overhead systems present in 34 countries around the world.
