FedEx Access Award returns to Sweden for second year in a row. The award recognises enterprising students leading the way in connecting new markets.

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp (NYSE: FDX), returned to Sweden for a second year in a row to award its signature FedEx Access Award to Neptun UF at the JA Sweden Company of the Year Competition, this year held online for the first time due to current circumstances with COVID-19.

At the JA Sweden Company of the Year Competition, 703 young entrepreneurs competed in a total of 13 categories such as Service of the Year, Product of the Year, JA Company of the Year and the FedEx Access Award. The event was broadcast live on Facebook, @ufsverige.

The annual FedEx Access Award rewards student projects that best demonstrate innovation, a readiness to connect to new markets, a contribution to socio-economic development and a responsible and considered approach to sustainability.

As part of the competition, all finalists have completed a year long entrepreneurship programme, alongside their existing studies that aims to equip young people with the skills to either secure a job or start a business of their own.

“Despite these unprecedented times, it’s encouraging to see that so many young people remain enthusiastic about the opportunities global entrepreneurship can offer. The FedEx Access Award recognises innovative young talent who will be leading the way in connecting new markets in years to come,” said Torsten Gadfelt, Managing Director, Ground Operations Nordics, FedEx Express.

“This year’s winners, Neptun UF, are a great example of the pioneering and problem-solving businesses that FedEx is proud to support. This group of young, talented entrepreneurs certainly have a bright future ahead of them and we look forward to watching them progress.”

The FedEx Access Award is part of a wider relationship with nonprofit organisation Junior Achievement (JA). FedEx Express has worked alongside JA for over a decade, supporting young people to access entrepreneurial education alongside formal academic schooling.

Neptun Detergent UF said: “Thank you so much for the honor of receiving the FedEx Access Award of 2020! Neptun is the first detergent on the market extracted from chestnuts. 100% natural and just as gentle on our environment as on your skin and your clothes. We are incredibly honored that all our hard work has been recognised this year and the great potential of our groundbreaking product.”

“There has never been a more important and vital time for international cooperation and support. The FedEx Access Award encapsulates this need for collaborative thinking across nations while also nurturing young talent by helping students gain a broader perspective on entrepreneurship. We’re thrilled that the award has returned to Sweden for a second year in a row, highlighting the strength of talent that is on our doorstep,” said Cecilia Nykvist, CEO, JA Sweden.

Global Entrepreneurship is a core focus area of FedEx’s charitable giving platform. The program contributes to FedEx goal to positively impact 50 million people by its 50th anniversary in 2023 under charitable giving platform FedEx Cares.
